At daybreak, Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them. But he said, “I must proclaim the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent.” And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea. -Luke 4:42-44
Jesus had a lot on his plate. He had people clamoring for his attention. But Jesus knew His mission. He knew there were people in his path that still hadn’t heard the message of hope. Jesus knew why the Father had sent him to that area, He knew where He needed to go next. There was still expanding to be done.
What is on your plate? What feels immediate and urgent? Often the urgent gets in the way of the important. God has an assignment for you. He has placed you in your job, your school, your family, your neighborhood for a reason. To do big things there, empowered by His Spirit. There are still people He wants you to share His message of hope with. There are still people who have not heard the Good News. God has sent you to tell them.
Who has God designed and anointed you to share your faith story with? Will you lay aside the urgent to focus on your assignment?
