Routines

For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain. Phil 1:21

With five kids, a wife, and two jobs it is easy for my day to get away from me. Maybe you can relate to that. I find that with all the responsibilities, obligations, and work we have, it is easy for our entire day to pass by without ever really thinking about how we are spending our time and what we are doing with our lives. The scary part is that those days turn into weeks, the weeks into months and the months into years. Before we know it, years of our lives have passed by without much, if any, change to the routines of our lives. But what do those routines have to do with Christ? What does our daily life have to do with following God? It is easy for us to say that we are Christians and that we follow God. However, our life is lived out mostly by the routine day to day details of our lives. How is Christ represented in all those moments?

Take some time to step back from your routine this week and evaluate your life. Be honest with yourself and see the story that your daily life reveals about what you are living for. Ask the Lord what needs to change in your life for Him to be the center of your life. We are all living for something. Let us be people who strive to live for Christ.
